The public-sector is undergoing a digital transformation. Currently, governments (federal, state or provincial) and commercial-sector companies that support government operations are exploring how technologies can improve public services and create a better overall experience for the public to support mission objectives. A critical part of this transformation is the greater adoption of emerging and cloud-based technologies.
One of those emerging technologies is quantum computing. Now that this technology is available via the cloud, governments and private-sector entities serving the government can begin building practical applications to address complex public-sector challenges such as supply chain and logistics management, emergency response, mail delivery, electric grid resilience, scheduling, and optimizing telecommunications networks. Increased digitalization correlates directly to the need to incorporate enhanced tools that provide better and often times faster answers. As the public-sector modernizes IT systems and incorporates new technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, machine learning, etc., it will also need to use better computational power to help achieve these objectives. Quantum computing can help.
